Populations based on electoral roll serve as an arbitrary set of figures which are used to ensure that judging is on a like-for-like basis and is fair for all entrants.
Entry categories and their population ranges are:

Village
301-1,000

2,501 – 6,000

6,001 – 12,000

12,001 -35,000
Small Cities
35,001-100,000
Cities
100,001-200,000
Town Centre
up to 1 contiguous sq mile
