South & South East in Bloom invites entries from community groups or volunteer teams working to improve their local area. This scheme is open to any small group of residents who join forces to enhance a space or take on a one-off project. Any group can enter—whether it’s a street, a residential close, an allotment, or a sports club. The only requirements are that there must be hands-on gardening or conservation work, and the group must be made up of local people. Entry is free, it’s not competitive, and everyone receives a Royal Horticultural Society Certificate graded from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. Between mid -June and 1mid- July, an assessor will visit for up to an hour, offering advice and providing a a report highlighting the successes and suggesting improvements. All entrants will also be invited to the annual awards ceremony.
