Would you like to become an In Bloom Judge or Assessor?

South & South East in Bloom is looking for people who are passionate about gardening, horticulture, community gardening or conservation, to become judges and community assessors for the annual competitions. The judges and assessors will visit villages, towns, cities, and community groups across the six counties of our region.

You don’t need to be an expert or know hundreds of plant names. If you’re interested in joining us, please email Peter Holman, Chairman of South & South East in Bloom, at chair@sseib.com and briefly describe your gardening or conservation interests, and why you would like to join us.

After this, you will be invited to a training day, where you will receive training, and in your first year, you will be mentored and supported by an experienced judge. Following this, you will be assigned to a senior judge/mentor and allocated entries to judge or assess in the region.

Please note that judges are voluntary and will only receive out-of-pocket expenses. After a successful probationary year, new judges will be invited to judge/assess for a further four years.
